Minister of Advanced Education, Ken Cheveldayoff Visits Saskatchewan Cyclotron Facility
Newly appointed Minister of Advanced Education, Ken Cheveldayoff, visited the Saskatchewan Cyclotron Facility (the Facility) on November 15th to gain insights into the production of medical isotopes, including the daily production of fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG).
The Facility produces the nuclear imaging agent FDG, enabling the Royal University Hospital's PET-CT scanner to aid in the diagnosis of cancer and other meidcal conditions in more than 3000 patients annually.
FDGs produced by the Facility are also delivered to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine's PET-CT scanner and to hospitals in neighbouring provinces.
