On June 23rd, a fitting on a research apparatus leaked releasing a small amount of short lived radioactivity out the exhaust stack. The impact to a member of the general public corresponds to 1/100 000 of the regulatory limit or approximately 1/2000 of the dose received during the course of a flight from Vancouver to Toronto. The apparatus has since been removed from service.

With support from the Saskatoon Fire Department, USask Pandemic Response Team, USask Safety Resources and USask Facilities an In-Person fire drill will be conducted at the Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences facility.
In accordance with the Fedoruk Centre Public Information and Disclosure Program, this notice is informing the public the fire drill will evacuate the facility and will be held on June 17th at 11:00 am, weather permitting.
